Living in North Palm Beach, Florida: Neighborhood Guide

North Palm Beach is a planned waterfront village developed on land assembled by John D. MacArthur in the 1950s. Much of the village sits on an island surrounded by the Intracoastal Waterway, giving it an unusual amount of water frontage and boating access for its size.

At a glance

  • Population: 13,162 (2020 Census)
  • Incorporated: August 13, 1956
  • Recognition: named the best planned community of 1956 by the National Association of Home Builders
  • Setting: an island village connected by three bridges, between Palm Beach Gardens and Juno Beach

What stands out

  • North Palm Beach Country Club: village-owned and open to the public seven days a week, home to a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and a clubhouse rebuilt in 2019.
  • John D. MacArthur Beach State Park: nearby natural beaches, trails and lagoon paddling.
  • Boating: canal and Intracoastal homes, many with direct water access.
  • Convenient corridors: US-1 for offices and civic life, Northlake Boulevard for shopping and dining.

Homes you will find

Expect mid-century and updated single-family homes on canals and the Intracoastal, dry-lot homes on quiet streets, and condominiums along the water. Many original homes have been renovated or rebuilt, and lot, seawall and dock details matter a great deal to value, so I review them closely.

Getting around

US-1 runs through the village, with Northlake Boulevard and PGA Boulevard providing access west to I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike. Palm Beach Gardens shopping and dining are minutes away.

Schools: School assignments follow the address, not the town name. Check any specific address with the School District of Palm Beach County boundary tools, and I am happy to help you look one up.
