Living in Jupiter, Florida: Neighborhood Guide

Jupiter is the northernmost town in Palm Beach County and one of the most sought-after addresses on Florida’s east coast. It pairs a true small-town feel with the Atlantic, the Loxahatchee River and the Intracoastal Waterway, plus spring training baseball, a research corridor and a deep bench of restaurants and marinas.

At a glance

  • Population: 61,047 (2020 Census)
  • Land area: about 21.6 square miles
  • Location: about 15 miles north of West Palm Beach
  • Water: Atlantic beaches, the Jupiter Inlet, the Loxahatchee River and the Intracoastal Waterway

What stands out

  • Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse: completed in 1860 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the town’s signature landmark.
  • The Riverwalk: a public waterfront path planned at about 2.5 miles along the Intracoastal, from Jupiter Ridge Natural Area north to the Inlet, lined with restaurants and Harbourside Place.
  • Beaches: miles of Atlantic shoreline, including dog-friendly stretches that locals love.
  • Spring training: Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Abacoa is the spring home of the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals.
  • Nature: the 271-acre Jupiter Ridge Natural Area and the Loxahatchee River for paddling and boating.

Homes you will find

Jupiter offers a wide range: oceanfront and Intracoastal condominiums, riverfront and deep-water estates with ocean access, established single-family neighborhoods, gated golf and country club communities, and the walkable, new-urbanist neighborhoods of Abacoa. Waterfront, flood zone and insurance details vary street by street, so I review them for every property.

Getting around

I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike both serve Jupiter, with Indiantown Road as the main east-west corridor. US-1 and A1A run along the coast toward Tequesta, Juno Beach and Palm Beach Gardens.

Schools: School assignments follow the address, not the town name. Check any specific address with the School District of Palm Beach County boundary tools, and I am happy to help you look one up.
